According to gamerankings.com, Super Mario Galaxy has accumulated enough top-tier ratings that it has reached the number 1 spot on the list for top rated games of all time. Right now 36 reviews have come in and have knocked The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time from the top spot which it held for 9 years.
This is an amazing feat for a game, but will it hold? More reviews are sure to come in. We'll have to wait a couple weeks to see if Mario can hold his ground.

Squidoo is a website that is designed for people to create a single webpage on any topic of their choosing. These single pages are called lenses and can contain viewpoints, information, expertise and recommendations. Although content can be placed on these lenses about any topic a person can think of, that is not the only reason to create a lens. Through recommendations of products, websites and more, a person is able to create ad revenue for themselves, Squidoo and/or a charity of their choice. Though many people would only make less then a dollar a month for themselves or a charity doing this, some people work hard to create a wealth of lenses that could generate thousands of dollars in total revenue.
One important thing to mention is that Squidoo lenses are often found fairly frequently in Google searches. Squidoo is a spawn of the Web 2.0 era where everything on the web is being found on high-traffic all encompassing websites.
Marketers have been using Squidoo to promote products for some time now, and more are heading its way. Squidoo is a very cool and original idea. Not only are marketers using it to promote products, but all others that fall in the
majority of the Internet community are using Squidoo to share ideas and promote their own websites or blogs. Squidoo is ready to become the next MySpace, the next Digg.
From a planning perspective, Squidoo offers some unique opportunities. I picture using this platform much like trying to spread a viral video for a product. On Squidoo I believe an advertiser could capture lots of attention by creating a
nifty story or sequence of stories that include or end with a product. Like a viral video, a blatant ad would probably not work; it would have to be much more subtle. However, if a marketer could build a reputation as some sort of
guru in a specific field, people may flock to that person’s lenses to see the products that are recommended. There are thousands of people posting lenses, but an account planner could create a lens in a specific category, such as
technology, and cater to a specific audience about specific products they would likely be interested in.
What unique opportunities do you believe Squidoo can offer advertisers? Are there some good possibilities here, or is it more of a gimmick?
Sorry for the lack of updates in the past week or so, but school has kicked me ass the last couple of weeks. My journalism classes have been vicious this term with assignments and group projects. I now know more about AIM and the Toyota FJ Cruiser than I'd ever want to.
In my advertising strategy class I was a part of a group project that conducted an online survey and two focus groups to figure out consumer awareness of new AIM products and the overall perception of AOL and AIM. The results didn't turn out too well for AOL because most people associated it with 'slow' and childlike. After gathering the results, we also found a direct correlation between the rise in texting/social networking sites and the decline of instant messaging. It also appears that social networking websites have reached a peak and people are becoming less interested in them, checking them out of habit rather than a desire to.
In my copywriting class I had to create two ads for the Toyota FJ Cruiser. One a print ad that would appear in a magazine, and one a guerrilla ad. Sadly I did not actually create the ad since it was a copywriting class and not a design class, but I'll provide you with my ads eventually. I just bought a new iMac (I'll tell you about it on the next blog) and I need to get all of my stuff onto the new computer before I can upload it.
Anyway, here are a few cool ads I've come across for now. Ciao!

This is awesome. Call whoever you want with optimus prime. It'll mask the phone number with yours or any you want and can say many basic American-style names. Recruit everyone you know to help out the autobots!
edit: haha

MINI has some of the best print and (unusual) outdoor ads in my opinion. I've found some online if you'd like to take a look. Their print ads are very direct, very to-the-point. There's not much copy at all in any of them, it's mostly about the image.

And here are some of MINI's crazy guerrilla and such outdoor ads. These are just awesome.

Lots of pictures, I know. Get used to it =)
Ah man, Super Smash Bros. Brawl is delayed until February. At least there is some good news. Sonic has been officially announced. Way excited for this game. Going to have to wait a little longer now but it looks like they are putting a lot into the game, should be worth it.
I added a couple more commercials I like. Had a few minutes of free time today so I decided to search for them and put a little more content into this blog.
Here is a beer commercial for Carlton Draught from 2006 I believe. Epic ad, that's all there really is to describe it. A 30 second spot couldn't get much more epic. Kinda like a Dragonforce song, ya know.
And this next commercial is possibly my favorite of all time. It so colorful, smart and fun. Pretty gay sounding description. I could have done better. This ad incorporates joyous music, bright colors and some very smart and awesome copy...that better? Just watch the ad. Euro-lingo.
Well hello there, welcome to my blog. My name is Arthur (RT) McMahon and I have decided to create this blog to share both my very own created advertisements and my favorite advertisements that I find from anywhere. This is a short first post, I'm not one much for introductions...just find out about me in my profile or by reading my posts!
Here's an awesome ad that just came out. It's a commercial for Toyota Tacoma that takes place in the World of Warcraft universe.
The reason I love this ad is because it's so unique and surprising. I first saw this ad online before on Television and I thought it was a joke, I didn't expect the thing to be a car commercial and then WHAM! I got car commercial all over my face...
